Nailed IT!

 Pinterest Project can end up good!  I believe we totally NAILED this project.   We read on Pinterest you can make fancy flowers and ribbon using register tape and a border punch.  During this process we did learn a couple tricks to help a girl out.  Here is what we did...

Here is what you will need:  register tape, card stock scraps in the length you need, border punch, adhesive, stamps & ink.

 We tried to punch the register tape without using a backing ... let me just tell you that DID NOT work.  The punch tore the register tape all up.  We then tried backing the register tape with scrap card stock and away we went ... it worked like a gem!   One NOTE:  do not put the adhesive along the edge it will destroy your punch when you get adhesive stuck in it.
Cut your card stock to the width and the length of the register tape.

 Once you get the register tape and card stock ready ... just punch the length of the register tape.  For a fun ribbon look you can also punch both sides to be decorative.

 Once you get it all punched, stamp the tape with any pattern you desire.   The register tape will fold and bend much easier than any card stock ribbon strips.  We have made flowers and fancy folding borders.  This is really fun, really cheap and looks amazing.  Stop in the store and check out the sample.

June PaGe KiT

The June page kit is full of fun!   It has a little bit for everyone in the family ... boy, girl, birthday!
Amazing papers and embellishments from American Crafts.  The combinations are delightful.  I just love what the design team did with this kit.

As we mentioned before this is the last large kit we will be producing.  We have been providing these large page kits for 4 1/2 years.  We recently decided to change up our program and bring your valued customers a larger selection of options and opportunities to get more scrapbooking done in a shorter amount of time.  We will be moving in to 'Life Journals' and 'Project Life' kits. 

I'm giving the design team a couple of weeks off then we will hit it hard again bringing you a new line of kits and fun easy projects starting the last week of July. 

Nailed IT!

As you know we have been on a Pinterest Quest since the beginning of the year.  With each project we attempt, there are a serious of OMG moments where we find ourselves saying "It would look so much better if we had...." of "This would have been a lot easier if we...."

We are so excited to bring you our new series of BLOGS "Nailed IT!".   We will show you what we used and what it looked like after we followed the Pinterest post and what changes we made to make this work to get a completed project.

Nailed IT!  ~ Mercury Glass Project

The directions from Pinterest said spritz a glass object with water then spray with looking glass spray.  What we found after doing just that was a product that was not all that attractive.  So we first cleaned the glass with a cotton ball and rubbing alcohol.  The jury is still out on if that truly helped.

1.  This was our first attempt, we simply followed the direction posted on Pinterest.  We spritzed the glass with water then sprayed it with Krylon Looking Glass Spray.   Not sure that we truly 'Nailed IT!' so we went back to the drawing board.

2. Second go round ... we cleaned the glass with rubbing alcohol.  We then decided to try 2 coats.  We first shot it with a lite coat of looking glass spray, we then spritzed it with water and followed that up with another coat of looking glass spray.  Still not sure we 'Nailed IT!' ~ we will let you be the judge of that.

These are our 2 finished projects.  I'm not convinced either of these can be passed off as Mercury Glass but it was sure fun trying.  I will say they look much better in person than in these photos.  They will be on display in the store.  You can also find the original Pinterest post on my LJS Pinterest Party Board, just follow the link above to start following me.

Family Ties

I totally love the amazing colors in our May Kit ... It is perfect for boy or girl.  The yellows really pop and the blues and greens are delightful!  Chalk up another amazing job done by the design team.

After making these kits for 4 years we decided it is time to change things up a bit.  June will be our last page kit of this kind.  We will still have the design team and we will still be offering a kit ... the kits will be changing.  We are all so excited for this change!!  We decided on the change to help YOU our customer out.  We will be taking a short brake (OK the month of July) off and when we come back in August ... Watch Out!   I will have more details in my June Kit post for you.  We are still finalizing some of the details.

The Pinterest Party at LCCC was so much fun.  Thank you to everyone who joined us.

We spent 18 hours chatting, crafting and eating...

The 3 projects were soooo much fun.  We covered plastic eggs with paper then made adorable Easter Wreaths, we covered chipboard to make a fancy grocery list pad then we made bunny boxes to put treats in. 

 

Life's Journey's Pinterest Parties have become my favorite event each month.  I'm just so excited to see all of our crafty friends.  I totally love seeing what everyone does with each project, they are all the same but very different ... truly creative juices at work when you attend one of our parties.

 

We have one spot for the April Party and the May Party will be the 4th.
