A wise scrapbooker once gave me advise on the 3 secrets to SCRAPBOOKING.... so I thought I would share them with you as they have helped me through the years.

1) Organize your Photos ... you can do this by person, event, theme. Things will flow much easier if you have them organized.

2) Plan Your Layouts ... if you know what your layout plan is it is much easier to shop for needed items and you don't return home with a multitude of items that won't work with your plans or photos.

3) Claim a Work Space & Time ... this is key to keeping the scrapbooking going!

Build a Button Paper Flower Arrangement. You will need decorative buttons with shanks, flower punches, pattern paper and pipe cleaners if you are making an arrangement.

Punch a variety of sizes of flowers, you might also want to use a die cut machine to get larger sized flowers as shown below. Arrange the flowers in layers, ink to your taste then punch a hole in the center to push your shank into. Secure the back using a pipe cleaner and start your arrangement.

You will end up with a super cute arrangement.... Don't be afraid to try different mediums for your flowers. Below we used butcher paper, news paper and wrapping paper.

Tip of the Week

Use your pattern paper scraps and build unique bows for your packages.

You will need double sided pattern paper, a cutter, flower punches and any little embellishment for the center of your flower. We used a button for our example.

Cut 9-12 paper strips, 1/2" or 1" wide. The length and width will depend on your package size.

Loop half you strips to form the base and staple together. Then Loop the remaining half to form the top layer and staple. Add you punched flower and embellishment and you have a super cute paper bow for you package.

I often forget that incorporating the negative piece into my layout is just as cute as using the positive piece in my layouts.

Take a regular office file folder. Score the folder 2 more times for a total of 3 folds. Then Score across the bottom just above the tab. Fold up and secure to create pockets.

Decorate a small envelope and make it match your layout. Put your journaling in it and attach it to the page. make sure that you don't glue down the flap on the envelope or else you wont be able to access your journaling.

Looking for a simple little tip to dress up your punched flowers. Use layering flower punches, cut the petals to give a little dimension then punch a small hole in the center. Run tulle in the hole for the full 3D look. Finish your flower with a little ink on the edges.

I was recently asked what is the best way to line up your alphabet when using acrylic stamps.

I have a couple of suggestions for you to accomplish this goal.....

1) Use a pencil and mark a line lightly on you project. Use the line as a guide to stamp your words. Once your done erase your line and walla perfection ....

2) Use the bottom or the top of your paper to keep you stamping lined up.

Leave a comment if you have another idea the works like a gem.

Tip of the Week.....

So we all know that you can sharpen your punches by punching tin foil .....
What if you used this tip as a dual purpose.....
Sharpen your punches but then use the shapes on your pages ....
I tried it this last week with a star punch and I have to tell you it added that little something that my page was missing .... and my punch was working better when I got done!!!!

This quick little tip can add BIG style to any page, card or project.
All you have to do is border punch multiple strips of paper (cardstock/pattern), then layer the punched strips. Add a little ink and you can create the look below.

Time to get Organized......
Here are some helpful tips to make this task a bit easier....

1) Take a good look at how you scrapbook .... if you stick to specific product lines, if you scrap by colors or you might design by theme. You will want to organize your supplies to the way you scrap.
2) Sort and separate your embellishment supplies by categories .... put all your ribbon in one storage container, buttons in another.... Jars work great for these type of items.
3) As you are getting organized don't forget it is OK to purge those items that are no longer your taste..... Items that are no longer your taste are only taking up valuable space in your scrapbooking room.
4) Collect suitable containers to meet your storage needs .... take a good look at the space you have and find containers that will work in your space.

Well, what can I say about myself? I was born...just joking! I haven't been scrap booking for as long as the other gals on the Design Team. And since it's only been about 4 years, my style is still evolving...or maybe it has finished evolving and it's just eclectic. Really, why choose just one style? Do I have to choose ONE? Some days I put tons of pictures on one page (ten is the most I've put on one page)...other times, not so many pictures, but loads of embellishments (fibers, brads, buttons, stickers, inks, multiple papers)...and then there's the simple pages with one pictures, a few words of journaling and that's it. My favorite subject? What else would a stereo-typical grammy's favorite subject be...her little man. He's too cute and too funny - just ask me, I'll tell you! Or better yet, just check out my pages!

Welcome Scrappers,

I’m Shannen the Design Team Leader and Co-Owner of Life’s Journey Scrapbooking. I have been scrapbooking for 14 years and have loved every minute of my favorite hobby. I have always been a crafty person and really enjoy creating handmade items for loved ones. Scrapbooking was just a great fit for me personally because not only do I get to use my photos to make amazing gifts but I get to express my creativity at the same time.
I really don’t stay with one scrapbooking style. I have my favorite items but I also love to try new things. For those of you who have scrapped with me, you know I LOVE INK …. flowers, ribbon, buttons and brads too. My most favorite new item is the ‘iRock’ tool for placing bling.
When I decided to take my hobby to a whole new level 4 years ago and start Life’s Journey Scrapbooking, I had no idea how wonderful it was going to be. I really enjoy teaching new scrapbookers the techniques. I love bring our shoppers new products and tools. Through this adventure I have met some amazing people and made so many wonderful friends. If I have not met you yet, I hope to soon.

Paper Ornament ....

This is a super cute Paper Ornament Idea that is easy to make with your kids. It takes just a couple of supplies and in a matter of minutes you have paper ornament bulbs for your tree.

You will need 2 beads, craft wire and scrap cardstock.

You will cut your cardstock 7 pieces 1/2" x 9" or 14 pieces 1/4" x 9".

Mark each piece in the center and 1/4" in on each end. Punch a hole in each of the pieces on the 3 marks.

Cut your wire piece about 9" and twist one bead to the end.

Start by stringing your paper pretty side down through the center hole on to the wire.

Once that is done .... start with the bottom piece on one end and string through the wire until you reach the top piece on that side. You will then switch to the next side stringing each piece starting with the bottom piece.

Once you are done ... string your second bead on and tie it off and you will have a simply beautiful ornament for your tree.

Hi! I’m Monique and I am a scrapaholic!! I have been scrapbooking for about 15 years and, like most other design team members; I also love to take pictures. My children often tell their friends that they have their own paparazzi!!!! My style is pretty simple. I mostly work in 12 x 12 double page spreads with as many pictures as I can reasonably fit in and the majority of my pages feature my fabulous kids!!
I love ink, ribbon and metal embellishments. I have enough supplies at my house to fill my own store – and yet I still love to shop for them!! Hi, I’m Kim, a self diagnosed photoholic. You can find me behind my camera or at my computer editing photos almost daily. My inspiration is my family, including our two dogs. I have two grown children, 20 and 18, whom have been my favorite subjects since day one. From being silly kids to school activities or just spending time together on the weekends, I find a reason to take pictures. My kids may roll their eyes and say, “No Mom, not again”. But the truth be told, they enjoy the outcome and memories I preserve. I started scrapbooking 16 years ago. And I have come a long way from when I first started, but I never grow tire of learning. The creativity is endless with scrapbooking, it is always changing.

Scrappy Ribbon Bow

To make this wonderful Scrappy Ribbon Bow you will need a chipboard circle (1"/ 2"/3"), Ribbon (width 1"/2"/3") and a little embellishment for the center.

Cut your ribbon in to 3" pieces ... you will need 12-14 pieces.
Fold each of your ribbon pieces as shown above and glue them down in the center.

Glue each of our folded pieces down to your chipboard circle .

Finish your BOW off by embellishing the center. We have a sample in the store if you would like a closer look.
